Michael Pollan writes to the next Prez

OK, I missed this first or second time around. I need to find some better green blogs. I'm really only posting this so I don't loose it. If you don't know who Pollan is, go buy a copy of the Ominvore's Dilemma.

The Winds of Change, a.k.a., what I heard at the deli

So I'm standing in line at the local sandwich shop. Woman in front of me turns around and notices my "Vote for Change" button. She looks at me, and looks at the button. Really studies it. Almost like she's trying to figure out the connection. And then...

She: I already did
Me: Good to hear
She: I used to be a Republican. Now I don't know what I am
Me: You're a voter
She: You're right!

OK, so it's kinda corny. Just one of those moments that you hear about but don't often witness. At least I don't often witness. Maybe it's all those African nationalist communists I hang out with....

Why Obama is winning this thing

I was surprised last night that none of the pundits, and today none of the bloggers (at least none that I read) didn't catch this. After the debate, there was all the glad-handing (except, of course, McCain refused to shake Obama's hand), and then the candidates and their wives worked the crowd for a few minutes. And the John and Cindy left the stage. Which left Obama and Michele there, by themselves, with 80 undecided voters willing to sit and talk with them. I was watching on MSNBC, and they had the splitscreen with the pundits on the right, and the stage on the left, and for 10-15 minutes, at least, there was Obama working the crowd. Following up with the folks who asked questions; getting his picture taken. Signing autographs. McCain? Probably on his plane taking a nap. This is why this community organizer is going to win, because he knows that every vote counts.

But no one seemed to notice.
